On 26 January 2026, from 8-9am, the Centenary of Anzac Reserve at the corner of Wrights Road and Green Road, Castle Hill, will become a vibrant symbol of unity as the local community gathers for a special Flag Raising Ceremony commemorating both Australia Day and Indian Republic Day.
Organised by The Community Foundation of North Western Sydney, in association with India Club Inc, the event reflects the rich multicultural fabric of the Hills District and celebrates the shared democratic values that bind Australia and India. The ceremony will be held in the presence of a distinguished special guest, Attorney General of Australia, The Hon Michelle Rowland MP, whose attendance underscores the national significance of the occasion.
Music will play a central role in the morning’s proceedings. Renowned Australian-Canadian singer Lisa Budin Price will lead the audience in the Australian National Anthem and perform a selection of well-loved Australian songs. Representing India’s cultural heritage, acclaimed Australian-Indian singer Piyush Sharma will perform the Indian National Anthem along with a series of Indian musical pieces, adding colour and emotion to the ceremony.
The celebration will also feature performances by local community groups, highlighting the diverse talents and cultural traditions that enrich North Western Sydney.
Attendees will be able to enjoy teas, coffees and light snacks served by The Community Foundation of North Western Sydney, fostering a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
This free community event is open to everyone and offers a meaningful opportunity for residents to come together, reflect on shared values of freedom and democracy, and celebrate cultural harmony on a day of dual national significance.
